Role: Lead Developer
The goal was to build an easy to use Genesis child theme to be sold as a StudioPress theme that course creators could use to launch their course.
The Genesis framework is used on over 213,675 WordPress websites. We wanted to make sure the process of switching from your current Genesis theme (or any WordPress theme) would be simple. Backwards compatibility, ease of use, and functional design were our main goals.
From Sketch to Genesis Child theme
Rafal Tomal did the design using sketch which made implementing his design straightforward.
One of our main goals was to make the theme as easy as possible for customers to use. We achieved this by building in some customizer options that make it easy for users without development knowledge to tweak.
Desktop, Tablet, Phone
The theme looks great on all different device sizes. Taking special care to make sure the mobile experience is as focused as possible.
Custom WooCommerce Styling
When you are using the Academy theme and you install WooCommerce it just works!
For the Academy theme we wanted to create an archive layout that stood out. To do this we crafted a 2 column full page layout for displaying the posts. This gave the Academy Pro theme a unique way to display posts.
My final thoughts…
This was the first of many projects I have done with the StudioPress team. With every project I have learned a ton of new skills that I have then applied to countless other projects (is yours next?). You can view the Demo of the final theme here: Academy Demo
If you have a project you think I could be a good fit for shoot me a message. I would love to hear about it.
