Not too long ago I found planning to be a waste of time.
Why not just jump right in and start making things!?
But then I realized that the ways I had been planning in the past were strategies other people had used, not what worked for me.
I tried to fit my way of doing things into someone else’s structure, no wonder I failed at planning!
So I threw out the playbook and decided to do it my way.
My Process
My daily planning process is really simple.
Every morning I write out everything that needs to be done (work and personal).
Then I go over the list and mark the 2 most important items that need to be done (these get done first).
Next I turn each task into a post it note. These go onto my board.
When I am working on a task I put that post it note on my monitor. This keeps me focused and reminds me of what I am working on when I get distracted.
When that task is complete I move it to the done section on my board.
Rinse and repeat!
